8 Holiday Wardrobe Staple Pieces

Brace yourselves…the holiday season is upon us. For me, this is my absolute favorite time of year. November and December make me so happy! I tend to go a bit overboard with the decorating and the shopping and the cooking. Since I go overboard with all that, I try not to go as crazy overboard in regards to my wardrobe shopping. I do like to buy a few new staple pieces before every holiday season…things that I know I will get a lot of use out of and things that can be worn different ways or paired with different things. In this post, I wanted to share with you this year’s holiday season wardrobe staples. I am planning on doing a more in depth holiday style guide later on but I thought this would be a quick, fun post to do! Now, get your mind in that holiday spirit (and in the shopping spirit) and take a look at these holiday wardrobe staples!

1) A Cute Over-the-Shoulder Purse

Ted Baker Mini Crossbody

When I think of the perfect holiday party/holiday season bag, this would be it. It’s black leather with a gold shiny bow, super festive, and the perfect size. It’s not a clutch so you don’t have to worry about carrying it in your hand the whole time. It’s big enough to hold your phone and wallet but not too big that it will knock into people when you’re mixing and mingling at a party.

2) A cozy (but cute) scarf

Reversible Scarf

Now if this doesn’t scream “the holiday season” to you, then I don’t know what does. I love the sort of red/green/blue gingham style, especially during this time of year. This scarf is oversized and super soft…so it’ll keep you warm and also keep you stylish.

3) A cute pair of “over the top/festive” booties

 Velvet Embellished Booties

These might be a little too crazy for some people, but I absolutely LOVE them. I think they’re so fun and festive and would look adorable paired with a black dress. You could even dress them down a bit and wear them with some cute jeans and that scarf I posted above. So many options!

4) A Cute Party Dress

 Velvet A-Line Dress

This is such a gorgeous colored dress. Since the cut is A-line, you can make it as dressy or as casual as you would like. I love how it has long sleeves and if you wanted to get crazy, I think you could even pair this with those embellished booties!

5) Statement Jewelry

Kate Spade Earrings // Gold Layered Cuff

These earrings would be perfect to wear for really any holiday party, but especially for a New Year’s Eve one. And I think gold is a great accessory color and goes really well with red, black, and navy colors (which are the colors worn most during the holiday seasons).

6) A Cozy Sweater

   V-neck Cable Sweater

No holiday season wardrobe is complete without a chunky cable knit sweater. This one is super soft, super baggy, and v-neck…literally sounds like the perfect sweater to me. I love the color and just looking at it makes me want to snuggle up in it while drinking hot chocolate and watching Elf.

7) A Trench Coat

 Ralph Lauren Trench Coat

These to me, are classic trench coats…they’re wool blended and come to about mid thigh. You can dress these up (wear over a cute dress) or dress them down (wear over a shirt and some jeans). Since you can wear them so many ways (and since they keep you warm), I think they’re a must have staple piece for your holiday season wardrobe.

8) A Cute Holiday PJ Set

 Candy Cane PJs

Aren’t these just the cutest? Asos has amazing holiday PJ sets (which is where these are from). I don’t really have to say anything else! …Other than now I want a cup of hot chocolate with a candy cane in it.

So there are your holiday season wardrobe staple pieces! I hope you all are as excited as I am for the holiday season! Quick question..is it acceptable to start playing Christmas music now? …asking for a friend…
