Did you know…that makeup brushes…don’t only have to be used…just for putting on makeup…? Well I used to not know that! I thought they only had one purpose and that purpose was to make your makeup look #flawless. But…ever since I started really getting into makeup, maybe about 4 years ago, I have come across other ways to use makeup brushes! Now, I didn’t invent these hacks, but I do want to share them with you guys because I think they’re pretty awesome. I hope you enjoy reading this post! But once you’re done…you’ll never look at those makeup brushes the same ever again…
1) Tame Fly-Aways with Spoolies
Instead of just using spoolies to comb through your eyebrows, use them to tame your crazy fly-aways! Wet the spoolie with some hairspray (or water) and comb through your hairs to lay them flat. The brush’s tiny, stiff bristles allow it to comb through those tiny hairs like a champ.
2) Apply Face Masks with Foundation Brushes
Foundation brushes are usually flat, paddle like brushes…that makes them not only good for putting on foundation, but also putting on face masks. It will evenly and smoothly distribute the face mask all over your face…and you won’t have to get your hands dirty! Yay!
3) Transform Fluffy Brushes into Fan Brushes
Ok so I think this one is genius. If you want to apply your highlighter with a fan brush but don’t have one…use this amazing trick! Take any fluffy brush you have and stick a bobby pin around it. This will flatten out the brush and make it perform like a fan brush so you can glow like the goddess you are!
4) Use Your Own DIY Makeup Brush Cleaner
Now these last two hacks are going to be more about makeup brush cleaning. This hack is amazing if you don’t want to spend a lot of money on some fancy makeup brush cleaner. This DIY cleaner will cost you maybe $7 and will last you months. Just fill a bowl with 3/4 baby shampoo and 1/4 olive oil. Wet your brushes in warm water, swirl them around in this mixture until they’re nice and coated, and then rinse them out under warm water again. Voila! You have a quick, easy, and cheap way to clean brushes that doesn’t break the bank!
5) Dry Brushes with Some Rubber Bands and a Hanger
So you know how when you’re drying your makeup brushes you shouldn’t lay them flat or lay them on their bristles because then they will dry in a weird shape? Well look at this contraption…this will dry your brushes without ever letting the bristles touch anything. And since they’re hanging upside down, they will dry faster too! All you need is a hanger and a couple tiny rubber bands!
